From Oloris Publishing, USA, in early 2013, comes my second novel (but actually written before STONE LORD) - "The Quest For The Rose"
TQFTR is a dystopian fantasy set in a post apocalyptic world, itself an alternative universe Canada, roughly around the 1970's.
It is vaguely autobiographical, drawing upon this authors childhood experiences, although portrayed in a fantasy context.
Amidst adventure and a quest story there is deeper symbolism, and the book is not purely intended for young readers. It is a book that could be enjoyed by anyone on various levels.
One of the themes that I intend to discuss in this blog is that of bullying, which is something that runs throughout the novel. The other is the abuse of power in the guise of doing good for morals or for society.
If I had to choose a book that had some similarities with this one, it would be the works of Phillip Pullman, though I have used a slightly softer edge, and it's not quite so black & white, I hope.
There are overtones of C.S Lewis and J.R.R Tolkien. Also a nod to Margaret Aatwood, my faourite literary Canadian author!
I will be placing in photos of the real locations that I've written about in the novel and intent to discuss its themes in due course as things evolve.
Right now I am waiting on the contract from the Publishers in order to get the whole ball rolling ...
